What the subscription buys
EIG (Essential Information Group) is the longest-running UK property auction data service. The subscription gets you their searchable database of upcoming lots across the UK (they cite 3,000+ new listings a month), a results archive reaching back to the early 1990s, repeat-lot history, bespoke alerts, and phone support. It is a serious product with three decades of accumulated data, and for some users it is clearly worth the money.
When the quoted £690 a year is worth it
If you are a lender, surveyor or researcher who needs comparables from the 1990s and 2000s, EIG's archive depth is unique and the price is defensible. The same goes if your institution simply requires the industry-standard citation on its data source line.
When it probably is not
If you are an investor or sourcer working live deals, you are paying for archive depth you will rarely open.
